Book Tracking

Have you ever imagined living in time without a timepiece? I mean a clock or something that does what a clock would do.

Don't tell me about history because history had its way too. That very instrument has saved lives, it has reduced the level of disorderliness that its absence should have offered.

Now, let's think in books

Can you remember every single material you read subsequently?

If your answer is 'YES' then I highly commend you (for a flawless memory or maybe an uncouth strategy)

If your answer is 'NO' and 'NOT SURE' then you might be unto something.

Just read along

What is Book Tracking?

Book tracking has always been in existence. It is a method that helps book lovers and readers keep track of all the books that they read and allows them the excerpts fresh in their minds.

Why do we track books?

  • Book tracking helps you organize your reading list
  • It makes it easier to reach your reading goals faster and in order
  • It enhances your memory
  • It can become a valuable resource for others
  • Book tracking helps you become a better reader

Here are ideas that will help you keep track of what you read.

Keep a book register or log

This is elementary to keeping track of the books you read. Before or After reading a book record the title, the author, the date it was published, the length, the genre, when you began reading, and when you completed the book. You can also add a list of books to be read.

Write a book summary

You can keep tabs on the books you read by writing a summary at the end of each book or through the reading process. You can also record your opinions of the book and inspiring getaways in form of a summary.

Rate the books

Add a rating system to keep track of how much you enjoyed the book or how relevant it was. You can rate from 1-5 or 1-10 depending on your preference. If you want to do some critical rating, rate based on the composition and concept of the book.

Keep a book journal

This is necessary because here you record your lightbulb moments, quotes, and the exercises you're inspired to execute afterward. Just like the book log, this is another basic way to track your books.

Research authors

While you read books, it is also helpful that you learn about the authors. Sometimes, the author's life occurrence will have an impact on their work. If you're interested in a manual, you're interested in the manufacturer. Do some research, it will give you a crude perspective on the book.

Use book tracker apps or websites

There are available book tracking platforms or systems that make book tracking easy. They help you track the book that you've read, are reading, and want to read.

You can rate books, review them, and access recommendations on what to read next. You can also see book reviews and suggestions from other book lovers.

Just like the timepiece helps track time, book tracking ideas help track books. You don't want to take time out to read and then suddenly forget what the books were about. Book tracking will help you navigate through your reading goals.

An Asset?

Long ago, in a faraway land called Sumer near the Persian Gulf, the city was known as the cradle of civilization.  When their businesses began to bloom such that the administration and calculations of trade numbers or purchases could no longer be done by memory, causing a drag in their mode of operations. This disruption motivated a creative Sumerian to create a solution to the problem which brought about the art of writing. Writing was introduced to the system primarily for record-keeping. Although writing started with symbols (pictograph) and inscriptions on local materials such as clay and reeds. The Knowledge gap

Does the knowledge gap still exist? The concept of the knowledge gap proposes that; as the infusion of mass media information into a social system increases, segments of the population with higher socioeconomic status tend to acquire this information at a faster rate than the lower status segments so that the gap in knowledge between the segments tends to increase rather than decrease. Knowledge is a form of wealth that is often unevenly distributed in a social system just like every other form of wealth. Although this concept has been challenged after the emergence of web 2.0 that is, the internet. Internet use has helped paced the knowledge gap between the advantaged and less advantaged. Previously, those who were of higher socioeconomic status were privileged to get information at a faster rate than those who were not. Information dissemination and accessibility have evolved over time. Information on the web is created to fit the general audience. It can be understood by both ...
