How to Organize your Books

One of the results of the covid-19 descent in 2020 for me was a surreal desire for books. It wasn't just about the words or takeouts. I loved the colors, cute book covers, the style of writing, and particular authors (wink) though these are not standard measurements for a good book.

Although I wasn't so much of a reader then, I generally admired the sight of lots of books especially the ones neatly arranged on shelves, and the creativity in the organization system. This had a way of luring me between the covers.

Books also need special handlings like jewelry in boxes, clothes in wardrobes, and butter away from sunlight (right?)

Books need a place too, this doesn't have to be head racking or time-consuming. Organizing your books makes it easier for you to pick and read. It is also a scrutable sign of how much you value knowledge.

These tips would help you organize your books both aesthetically and for function.

Arrange your books in colors

If you are a visually intriguing person, sorting out your books in similar colors would make them appealing to you.

Organize books by genre or subject

You can keep your books in order by placing them in the same genre. Fictions and nonfiction, you can also go ahead to arrange them in their sub-genre. For example, you can separate self-help books from business books or health books. This is a good way to pick books if you read according to categories.

Organize Alphabetically

It makes it so much easier if you normally have a hard time remembering specific book titles. This order also makes it less complicated to find books.

Group TBR together

Books to be read shouldn't be gagged up with those that have been read to enable easy access. You can also categorize them by size, color, or genre on a separate space on the shelf or a rack.

Arrange by size or height

Placing them according to sizes or compatible heights gives your shelf a neat and orderly layout. From small books to big books alike. It is often advised to place larger or heavier books at the bottom and smaller or lighter books at the top of the shelf in case of fall and to maintain balance.

Stack books

Try horizontal stacking if you don't have a proper shelf. You can stack books neatly according to sizes, colors, or even genres.

Organize according to the authors

This can be helpful if you buy books by particular authors. You can arrange them according to their authors. Guess what? You can spot your favorite author from this assortment.

Display your favorite books or put them in a special basket

You can decide on special treatment for special books. Your all-time favorite books can be seen as artifacts, just for aesthetics. This category can be used as recommendations anytime.

Take some time out and put your books in order.

An Asset?

Long ago, in a faraway land called Sumer near the Persian Gulf, the city was known as the cradle of civilization.  When their businesses began to bloom such that the administration and calculations of trade numbers or purchases could no longer be done by memory, causing a drag in their mode of operations. This disruption motivated a creative Sumerian to create a solution to the problem which brought about the art of writing. Writing was introduced to the system primarily for record-keeping. Although writing started with symbols (pictograph) and inscriptions on local materials such as clay and reeds. Writing evolved into a sophisticated script called the cuneiform which was used to record information about bureaucracy and authority, and other aspects of life. These were mostly written on scrolls. Imagine what the world would have been without the collection of events or experiences... Just imagine They would be no history, memories, shreds of evidence of the past, and of cours...
