Bookish Definitions You Should Know

 



Every field and subject has its associated terminologies. You might not have been familiar with some of them but here is a list to keep in mind.


Bookish definitions you should know

  • Book nook: a quiet place or a space specially dedicated to reading.
  • Book haul: a video displaying books received from a particular source ( as a gift, from a bookstore, or a publisher)
  • Bookaholic: someone who constantly buys books to add to their stack of unread books.
  • Book and bone: a slang term that refers to smart and deep
  • Bookarazzi: someone who is intrigued about taking photos of books and posting them online.
  • Book bomb: an intentional effort to buy an author's book during the lunch to raise the ranks and ratings of the book thereby increasing their exposure.
  • Book buffer: several books you have arrayed to read one day.
  • Book bumps: (you should know already) they are the bumps you get on your skin whilst reading a book (goosebumps).
  • Book buster: spoiler alert! refers to someone who has read a particular book and isn't mute about it especially when someone else is reading the same book.
  • Backlist book: a book that was published before the current year
  • Book coma: refers to when someone is so engrossed in a book and can't stop reading it until they are done.
  • Bibliophile:  a person who loves or collects books
  • Bookish merch: literary-inspired items such as art, bookish quotes, mugs, bookmarks, t-shirts, and any other book support.
  • Bookmark: something  (such as a piece of paper)  that is put in a  book to show the place where you stopped reading.
  • Bookman: a person who has a love of books and especially of reading.

The list is numerous my friends but these ones are common and often in use.

 Long ago, in a faraway land called Sumer near the Persian Gulf, the city was known as the cradle of civilization.  When their businesses began to bloom such that the administration and calculations of trade numbers or purchases could no longer be done by memory, causing a drag in their mode of operations. Curiosity and the Cat

  I find it hard to believe that the cat was ever on good terms with curiosity. I mean, if they had built an ideal partnership, no death would have been recorded. Did curiosity kill the cat?  well, maybe.  The cat just didn't know what he wanted. He was snooping around for anything and everything. Unguarded and unnecessary was the cause of his passing.
