How to Write a Book Review

Your love for books and reading is just one aspect that is affiliated with book worms and book lovers.

Let me introduce you to an important skill every avid bookish person should have and that is (drum rolls) 'writing a book review'.

Writing a book review doesn't only help you share your thoughts about your favorite and non-favorite reads. It also helps you connect with fellow readers by sharing helpful and informative perspectives about a book or books.

Pay attention to these easy steps;

A brief introduction

Your introduction should be more like a hook to attract and ensnare your audience so they get reading. It could be a compelling statement or a rhetorical question.

Write the basic but important aspects of the book

Here you can share information the reader should know such as the title, author, and year it was published. This could also include characters, themes, and plot depending on the genre of the book.

Plot summary

You don't need to give all the details so you don't appear as a spoiler. Share a concise synopsis of the plot so fellow readers can get the central idea about the book.

Share your take on the book

This should be the most detailed part of your review. Here is where your call to action should be that's if there's a call to action. Let your audience know why you think it's a terrific read or why you found it dissatisfying.

Your recommendation and ratings

Your conclusion should be short and catchy too. Summarize everything from the main points to the overall opinion of the book. Then apart from solely recommending the book, you could also recommend similar books to the one you're reviewing.

Reviewing sites usually encourages star ratings, you can as well use your own rating system.

This disruption motivated a creative Sumerian to create a solution to the problem which brought about the art of writing. Writing was introduced to the system primarily for record-keeping. Although writing started with symbols (pictograph) and inscriptions on local materials such as clay and reeds. Writing evolved into a sophisticated script called the cuneiform which was used to record information about bureaucracy and authority, and other aspects of life. These were mostly written on scrolls.
