The proper foundation for productivity and all round success is having a healthy self-concept.
It happened to me too, I wore those shoes, you know how your toes hurt from wearing shoes that aren't your size?
Well, that's the effect of a poor self-concept, it hurts you because it isn't meant for you.
It is no ingredient to growth or success plus I know how much you want to thrive and excel, that's reason enough to write to you.
I use to be so certain about the questions the teachers would ask in the classroom but I wouldn't dare raise my hands.
I wasn't sure what I was afraid of, the comic response from my classmates? the applauds that will come afterward? or just some cruel unbelief.
Oh! and that hurts, from the head down to the toes, living in some shoes that just don't fit. Not believing the best of You and the best in You.
Self-concept refers to how one thinks, evaluates, or perceives themselves. It encompasses all the thoughts and feelings about oneself physically, personally, and socially.
One thing I learned on the journey is the importance of being self-aware. My self-perception began to be influenced by my motivation to seek self-knowledge.
Self-concept forms and changes as we continually learn about ourselves.
Here are a few components of self-concept everyone should know:
1. Self-esteem: Self-esteem is the way we think about ourselves and the value we place on ourselves.
2. Self-efficacy: Self-efficacy is the belief we have in our own abilities, specifically our ability to meet the challenges ahead of us and complete a task successfully.
3. Self-confidence: Self-confidence is the belief in oneself and abilities, it describes an internal state made up of what we think and feel about ourselves.
Although self-esteem and self-confidence are used interchangeably, self-confidence refers to how we feel about ourselves and our abilities whereas self-esteem refers literally to whether or not we like and value ourselves.
A healthy self-concept is like a shoe that is just right.
