Procrastination: The Guy

I'm pretty sure you've met this guy in your business journey or even right now, he's been lurking around this week's project and dancing around the goals you spoke about with your team.

And I bet he wouldn't leave until you start calling the shots.

Procrastination has been a pain in the necks of fellow earthlings. We've met this guy somehow, sometime.

It's high time you had done something, like becoming the player and not the game.

If you want to defeat this stunt you'll need a strategy, you can't just wish your way through the battle.

Here are 10 strategies that would help you work on any tasks, goals, or projects and deal with Procrastination.

1. Identify what you want to achieve

Most times we're not even aware of what we want and that's why procrastination has roots.

2. Break down your goals

Have daily tasks or bi-daily tasks. However you want, just start in bits. This helps the mind approach tasks in an informed manner and breaks inertia ( resistance to start).

3. Have a deadline

It creates urgency and it helps you not to fight to beat the air.

4. Have accountability

A shared commitment is a strong commitment but a shared commitment with accountability is even stronger. It will create responsibility and you wouldn't want to disappoint the other person involved.

5.  Working at intervals and creating time schedules for what you want to do improves your focus. You're also certain about when it's work time and when it's free time.

6. Eliminating distractions

You can use apps like Pomodoros to improve focus, you can also switch off notifications or enable 'do not disturb'.

7. Record your Progress

Yess do this, nothing motivates a man more than his progress, you get to watch yourself move from zero to one. It's exciting!

8. Reward yourself

Since you have a deadline, and you have milestones, you can reward yourself as you conquer every milestone.

9. Eat well and exercise

10. Rest

This cannot be overemphasized your body needs rest, but don't lie to yourself if it isn't needed. Don't substitute work for rest.

Bonus tip: Time travel to your future self.  What are the costs of hanging out with the guy (procrastination)?

You might have tried some of these in the past and it probably didn't go well. I suggest you try again, we're all a work in progress, don't get disappointed because it didn't work that one time.

Benjamin Franklin says: “You may delay, but time will not.”

An Asset?

Long ago, in a faraway land called Sumer near the Persian Gulf, the city was known as the cradle of civilization.  When their businesses began to bloom such that the administration and calculations of trade numbers or purchases could no longer be done by memory, causing a drag in their mode of operations. This disruption motivated a creative Sumerian to create a solution to the problem which brought about the art of writing. Writing was introduced to the system primarily for record-keeping. Although writing started with symbols (pictograph) and inscriptions on local materials such as clay and reeds. Writing evolved into a sophisticated script called the cuneiform which was used to record information about bureaucracy and authority, and other aspects of life. These were mostly written on scrolls. Imagine what the world would have been without the collection of events or experiences... Just imagine They would be no history, memories, shreds of evidence of the past, and of cours...
